Named for the calm of a slow monsoon afternoon. Soothing Rains lets your plant drink at its own pace: the pot sits in a matching water tray and draws moisture up from below, so the roots stay evenly damp without soggy soil.

Best plants: Moisture lovers such as peace lily, calathea, ferns, pothos and aglaonema. Avoid succulents and cacti, because bottom watering keeps the soil too moist for them.
How to water: Fill the tray and let the plant drink for 30 minutes, then pour away what's left after an hour. Water from the top once a month to flush out salts.
Where to place it: Coffee tables, side stools by the sofa, shelves, consoles and office desks (Small size). It also makes a thoughtful gift.
What's included: The handcrafted ceramic planter with a drainage hole, plus a matching water tray. Plants aren't included.
Care: Wipe with a damp cloth, and use glass cleaner or mild soap for marks.
